(Location cited as NX 841 613). Maidenholm Forge, built c. 1835 by John Elliott to make agricultural and other machinery. Two single-storey rubble buildings, with an eight-spoke, wood and iron, high-breast wheel, 5ft 10ins (1.77m) wide by 16ft (4.88m) diameter, by J B A McKinnel of Dumfries. The lade also fed a turbo-generator installed in 1916 by the Dalbeattie Electric Light Co, the concrete flume for which still exists. Now disused.

J R Hume 1976.
