A roofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1880, sheet cxvi), but it is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).

Pen and bothy: recorded in June 1994 during a comprehensive survey of Balmacara NTS estate. Full details are lodged with Dualchas, Skye and Lochalsh Museums Service.

Field Visit (May 1994)

A semi-ruined rectangular sheep fank with the south end cut deeply into the hillside where the walls stand to 2m. A galvanised iron dipping tank lies in the centre of the north end where the fank walls survive as foundations only.

Lying by the west side of the fank is a ruinous rectangular structure - possibly the shepherd's bothy.

Condition Survey (1998 - 1998)

Around 200m east of the township of Drumbuie, sited immediately south of the road in a slight 'U'shaped area through which a burn once flowed, is a series of ?19th century structures that seem to be more complex than suggested but the Dualchas description
