In October 1994, a jug was found by sports divers at a depth of about 15m on a muddy silty sloping bottom and about 30m off the shore. No evidence for any shipwreck was noted, and the location is indicated as lying between NM c. 860 374 and NM c. 867 387.
The jug is a two-handled wheel-thrown vessel with a slightly everted rim and a fott-ring; there is no evidence for glazing, but this may have been lost in the sea. The core of the fabric is buff-pink with small inclusions of grit or quartz, and both inner and outer surfaces are yellowish. The vessel has been tentatively ascribed to a Mediterranean or Spanish origin, between roughly the 14th and 18th centuries.
