Architect: Robert Paterson 1871

Designed by Robert Paterson in 1871.

J Gifford, C McWilliam and D Walker 1984

The Souther Literary Institute was a Methodist Chapel from 1901-1930

Formerly the Livingston Mission Hall, it opened as a cinema in 1925. Closed by fires in 1939 and 1943, the cinema probably never reopened. The building was then utilised as a furniture store.
