Archaeology Notes

ND24SW 4 2125 4390.

A circular, stone sheep fank with grass-grown shieling bothies to the E at intervals along the side of the Red Burn.

Visited by OS (AA) 14 April 1972; OS 6" map, 1959.

This circular sheepfold had an internal diameter of 11.15m. The wall was 0.7m thick and stood at least 9 courses high to a maximum of 1m.

The entrance was to the SSE with the lintel in situ, and measured 0.65m wide and 0.68m high.
