Archaeology Notes

ND24SE 25 2956 4277

A round, peat and stone mound, 5m in diameter and 0.3m high, covered with burnt heather.

What appears to be a natural mound of peat (YARROWS04 555), measuring about 3m in diameter and 0.2m in height, is situated on the summit of the Hill of Yarrows some 55m WSW of the OS triangulation pillar (ND24SE 77). A similar mound (YARROWS04 556), measuring 4.2m from NE to SW by 3.5m transversely and 0.3m in height, lies about 40m SW of the pillar.
