Archaeology Notes

ND24SE 23 29315 42720

A possible round peat mound, covered with burnt grass, 8m in diameter and 0.5m high. It may be the result of cutting round a burnt area.

This heather-grown peat mound is situated on a low rise on the W side of a large area of open ground on the summit of the Hill of Yarrows. The mound, which measures 5.7m from NW to SE by 5.3m transversely and 0.5m in height, is enclosed by a post-and-wire fence.
