Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Cropmarks have revealed traces of a circular feature in a field of ripening grain.

Though first impressions suggest that the feature could be a prehistoric enclosure, closer inspection suggests otherwise. The site has no entrance, and cropmarks showing the lines of modern field boundaries appear to respect its limits. This suggests that the feature may be more recent in date.

Reference to the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of Roxburghshire confirms the site's modern origin. Shown on the map at this same location is a small, circular plantation, planted with trees.
