The military road heads NW on an often marshy track which runs along the foot of the Meall Dearg. The road has been erected on a causeway between NN 892 435 and NN 888 441, but today a burn runs along this and within the space of less than one hundred yards there are three bridges (NN84SE 8.03, NN84SE 8.04 and NN84SE 8.05) at NN 8914 4360, NN 8913 4363 and NN 8912 4364. Although two are still in good condition, the third, which spans the Cochill, is ruined. A little further N the military line bends sharply to the E and continues heading almost directly N until it links with the modern road at NN 888 445.
