A grassy hillock containing the ruins of a broch. The wall-face is exposed in one or two places, and the overall diameter is 52ft, with a maximum height of 9ft.

RCAHMS 1911.

The remains of a broch, generally as described by the RCAHMS. The SW segment has been mutilated by quarrying, and a short single course of heavy stone in the SW arc is all that remains of a wall-face.

Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (N K B) 12 May 1967.

No change to the previous field report.

Scheduled as Rumster, broch 200m WSW of, Forse.

Possible broch in Latheron, Caithness, consisting of a grassy hillock 2.7m (9ft) high in which one course of a curved wallface, made of heavy stones, is exposed in the south-west arc [1]; this indicates an overall diameter of the building of 15.86m (52ft).

Field Visit (20 July 2012 - 30 August 2012)

A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out 20 July – 30 August 2012 on 29 sites in the North Highland Forest District. The work was undertaken in order to update existing monument management plans with new detailed site descriptions, condition reports, fixed point photography and plans (RCAHMS Level 4) of 25 scheduled monuments and one unscheduled monument. Three additional scheduled monuments were surveyed in greater detail, (RCAHMS Level 1). Recommendations were also made for the conservation management of the sites. The sites visited and surveyed were:
