Not to be confused with Hartwood Hospital for which see NS85NW 18.00

The hospital was built to accommodate additional patients from Lanark District Asylum at Hartwood . The complex of buildings was built on a new site closer to Shotts at Hartwood Hill from circa 1935, with James Lochhead as architect (Historic Scotland Listing notes).

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
