Archaeology Notes

ND16SE 23 1859 6383

At ND 1859 6383, in a ploughed field, is an elongated uncultivated mound about 35.0m along the main axis, aligned NW-SE by 15.0m transversely and 1.5m high, which, viewed from the NE or SW, has an upstanding aspect that could suggest an artificial character such as a long cairn. However, there does not appear to be any associated local tradition of a cairn and the farmer has not recorded any finds or noticed any undue concentration of stone around the base.
