(ND 1534 6151) Mound (NR)

OS 6" map, Caithness, 2nd ed., (1907)

This is an Orkney-Cromarty type round cairn with a Camster type chamber. It has been greatly reduced, both in its diameters which are now 40 by 27ft, and in its height, now 3ft. The entrance has been from the ENE but the passage has been completely removed. The tops of five stones are visible in the turf-covered mound, consisting of two pairs of transverse slabs and what is probably the end stone to the W.

A S Henshall 1963.

This chambered round cairn is as described and planned by Miss Henshall. Resurveyed at 1:2500.
