Archaeology Notes

NT29NE 10 2997 9783

A WW II concrete and steel underground air-raid shelter is situated at the N end of the railway triangle immediately S of the bridge through to the Gold Course at Thornton Junction.

J Guy 1993; NMRS MS 810/3, 161

This air-raid shelter may not be linked to the Fife anti-tank line.

It suggested that the location of the shelter is more likely to reflect it's use by railway workers at the nearby important railway junction station. The station has since been removed.
