Fairfield Garage, c.1928, has a flat-headed art deco pediment. Adjacent Glenmorangie, 1958, by J & F Johnston & Partners, very good commercial building of its type; slight two-storey brick box with projecting first-floor oriel window, its elegance lost in recent overhaul. Everything is dominated by the railway viaduct, c.1840, John Miller, of the engineering firm of Granger & Miller, a competent architect (e.g. Haymarket Station in Edinburgh). Edinburgh & Glasgow railway was begun in 1838, and opened in 1842. This immense viaduct curving across the Almond flood plain consists of a wide principal arch flanked by three smaller arches, with abutment decorated with incised ornament in Miller style.
