Archaeology Notes

NH76SW 20 7060 6495

Cropmarks of a barrow were recorded here as part of a desktop survey for the Resolis Water Main Renewal Project (NH 536 070 - centred). Aerial photographs show ploughed out rig-and-furrow cultivation over extensive areas of fields on both sides of the nearby road. A faint circular cropmark is visible on an aerial photograph of 1946, although no cultivation remains. Nothing is visible on an aerial photograph of 1954.

Aerial photographs taken in 1992 by RCAHMS revealed cropmarks of a barrow, with intermediate cropmarks scattered across the field.
