ND14NW 13 111 497.

(ND 111 497) A scattered group of thirteen shielings accompanied by mounds, banks, buildings, a stone setting and a platform. The shielings range from 5 to 25m in length, from 3 to 18m in breadth and from 0.2 to 1.5m in height.

The mounds (A), of which at least two of the six are of peat, range from 2 to 21m in diameter and from 0.2 to 1m in height.

The banks (B) range from 35 to 200m in length, from 1.5 to 12m in breadth and from 0.2 to 0.7m in height. One has stone exposed, while another is of earthen construction with a shieling-type structure 4m square, attached to one end.

The two buildings (C) measure 9 to 4m and 8 by 12m, the former being subdivided.

The stone setting (D) lies among heather, measures 4m in diameter and 0.3m in height, and consists of two stones flanking a larger one, with a fourth about 3m away.

The platform (E) is rectangular and heather-covered, and measures 8 by 3m.

At ND 1099 4970 is a subrectangular feature (F), comprising a horseshoe-shaped area of moss and heather.

Only intangible remains of the site survive after forestry ploughing and planting.
