All features contained to south of boundary dyke (site 14). Military.

J R Hunter 1984

The complex of remains is situated at the N end of The Ayre, immediately S of a boundary dyke (HY30SW 30). The mound and a platform are almost certainly a light anti-aircraft emplacement, possibly for a 40mm Bofors gun or heavy machine gun. The site is related to that at HY30SW 27 and HY30SW 29 which have the apppearance of building foundations which would have been the accommodation area for the gun crew.

A series of huts are noted at this location on a War Office military sketch plan of the Island (PRO WO 199/2721) and 40mm AA equipment is also noted in the document.

Visited by RCAHMS (DE, GS), August 1999
