NK03NE 67 0932 3583 and 0932 3597

GRC note the following:

NK03NE 58: 0932 3583. World War II pillbox on point between Port Erroll vilage and harbour. Six sides, one door, three loopholes and concrete top level. The seawall at this point could be an anti-tank wall.

NK03NE 59: location cited as 0934 3597. World War II anti-tank blocks (some toppled) from near footbridge SE to near pillbox; point to point double row. Square on beach, round sewer pipe, stones set in top of blocks.

Field Visit (October 2022)

Visited during fieldwork by SCAPE. No changes to description. Tank blocks across river are circular filled sewer pipes.

Field Visit (October 2022)

A pill-box from World War II. Type 24 construction. It is six-sided, with one door and five loop-holes. It situated on the point between Port Erroll and the harbour. The sea wall could have been an anti-tank wall.

Visited during fieldwork by SCAPE. The pillbox has been reused as the base of a patio seating area in the garden of a new house on the site of the former ice house on the approach to Port Errol Harbour. It overlooks the entrance to the Water of Cruden and the northern part of Cruden Bay.
