South Glassmount Farm is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Fife 1854, sheet XXXVI). On the date of survey it consisted of, amongst other areas, a covered cattle court, straw barn, byre, hay barn, cart shed and farm house.

There is a remarkably complete fixed barn, high speed, full dresser threshing machine which is fitted with a pair of fanners. The primary set separated the chaff and grain. The grain was then transferred, via a blower to the second fanner which graded and cleaned the grain. Also included is a straw conveyor which raked the straw from the straw walkers and delivered it to the straw barn using the conveyor tray located in the roof space. The conveyor is suspended below the other beams of the roof couples (for details, see MS/744/30/1-4). When last used, the machine was driven by an electric motor via a flat belt drive. There is no clear evidence to suggest that the existing machine was originally steam powered.

Next to the threshing barn is a former engine and boiler house. The base of the chimney exists along with the circular section brick stack. The stack has been reduced in height.
