NO53SW 51.01 NO 5360 3449 Churchyard

William the Lion bestowed the church of Fothmuref (changed to Barry by Alexander II in 1229) to the Abbey of Arbroath on its foundation. It was dedicated by Bishop David of St Andrews in 1243. The present parish church was built in 1800.

A J Warden 1880-5.

Extended to T-plan and lofts, added 1818. Unused since 1952 and now derelict.

G Hay 1957; SDD 1960-.
