For (present) Ardtornish House or Tower (NM 7033 4753) and related buildings, see NM74NW 13.

Ardtornish House: Built 1755-70, dismantled 1896, demolished 1907.

P Gaskell 1968.

NM 6910 4430: This Improvement-era house was owned by Donald Campbell of Aird and demolished in 1907 to avoid tax on unoccupied property by the then proprietor Valentine Smith. It was one of the largest Improvement properties and represented the top end of the scale and the wealth and power enjoyed by Campbell of Aird. In the mid 18th century it was described as a handsome two-storey mansion, harled white with three broad symmetrical bays to the front elevation and a large, M-gabled wing to the rear.

D Maudlin 2003.
