(ND 0090 6356) Cairn (NR)

OS 6" map, Caithness, 2nd ed., (1907)

Most of this Pict's house is supposed to have been removed about 1770 for building materials.

Name Book 1873.

This cairn-like mound is about 41ft in diameter and 3ft in height. The surface is very uneven and appears to have been overlaid with field clearance stones. Its true character is uncertain.

RCAHMS 1911.

This grass-covered mound, a possible cairn, is about 13.0m in diameter by 1.0m in height. No information regarding its purpose could be obtained.

Visited by OS (R D) 20 November 1964.

(ND 0090 6356) Mound (NR)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1975)

A cairn, as described by the RCAHMS and the previous field investigator. It is circular, and the profile is 'cairn-like', though stone clearance from the early modern cultivation that skirts the base of the cairn has been added. In the SW side is a single earthfast stone which may be a kerb stone.

Visited by OS (N K B) 24 November 1981.
