Nothing is visible of five 'old coal pits' depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map,(Fife & Kinross, 1856, sheet 31), between the W outskirts of Lochgelly and the railway (NT 1772 9337, NT 1780 9336,

NT 1778 9343, NT 1791 9343 and NT 1809 9351). The area is now a golf course.
