(ND 0810 6166) The Shean (NAT)

The Shean is a small artificial mound about 2ft high and of unknown origin, said to have had bonfires burnt on it

Name Book 1872

This is the grass-covered remains of a small cairn, 10.0m in diameter by 0.5m high. No further information about its origin or purpose could be obtained locally; it is now surmounted by an OS triangulation pillar. Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Mound (ND 0811 6166). Dimensions: 8 x 7m. Subcircular mound, the top of which has been removed to install a trig point.
