Archaeology Notes

At ND 0559 6046 is a circular, stone-walled hut, visible as a hollow set into the SE side of a slight rise, and measuring about 11.0m in diameter between the centres of a heavily peat-covered wall, spread to an indeterminate width. The denuded entrance is indicated by a gap of about 3.0m in the SE arc.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (I S S) 16 March 1972.

(ND 0559 6046) Settlement (NR) (One of eight hut circles shown.)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1975)

A hut circle as described. The heather cover in the vicinity is smooth and uniform suggesting former cultivation (see type-site ND06SE 27).

Visited by OS (N K B) 18 September 1981.
