Location formerly entered as NG 844 575.
A township comprising thirty-four roofed, three partially roofed and seven unroofed buildings, sixteen enclosures, some field walls and parts of a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet lxxxi).
Thirty-nine roofed, one partially roofed and five unroofed buildings, several enclosures, some field walls and parts of a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH), 24 April 1996.
The extensive remains of a field-system, around the fringes of the improved ground around the modern settlement of Inveralligin, were recorded by Headland Archaeology during a pre-afforestation survey.
At the W end of the township, one hut and two small enclosures (NMRS MS 899/96, no.2), centred on NG 8402 5756, were noted in an area scattered with linear clearance features and clearance cairns.
Immediately E of Blaroor, between the Allt na Criche and an unnamed burn to the E, there is a large area of improved ground bounded on the N by a dyke. Just within the dyke at NG 8480 5780, there is a rectangular drystone structure (MS 899/96, no.9c) measuring 4m in length by 2.5m in width and stands up to 1.8m in height. To the NW there is a gap for sheep in the head-dyke. About 35m to the SE of the structure there is a circular drystone structure, measuring 1m in diameter internally and 1m in height with a 0.5m wide gap in the masonry on the S side.
At NG 8482 5781, a small drystone structure abuts the outside of the head-dyke whilst at NG 8482 5779 a raised rectangular area measuring 14m by 10m, possibly an enclosure, abuts the inside of the dyke.
To the W of the unnamed burn below a a crag, at NG 8500 5752, there is a roofless rectangular building, measuring 9m in length by 3m in width, which is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet lxxxi; Ross and Cromarty 1904, sheet lxxxi).
On the E side of the burn, at NG 8507 5771 in the angle between it and the head-dyke, there are a further two buildings within a small enclosure (NMRS MS 899/96, no.12). The W building is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross and Cromarty 1904, sheet lxxxi) and, roofed, on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971) whilst the E building is only shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map.
At NG 8544 5770 outwith the head-dyke, there is a small structure, measuring 1m by 1.5m internally and standing up to 1.5m in height, built against an outcrop. It is open to the E.

NG 848 577 (centre) A rapid pre-afforestation survey was undertaken of an area of c 30ha on the N shore of Upper Loch Torridon at Inveralligin. A total of 15 sites or groups of sites (part of NMRS NG85NW 17) were identified within the area designated for possible future tree regeneration. All lie on the margin of the adjacent townships of Inveralligin and Rechullin and appear to be of 19th-century date.
