Archaeology Notes

NO25NW 38 2354 5730

Three orthostats (NMRS MS 738/11, no.8), up to 0.6m high, and a fourth, collapsed or recumbent stone forming a rough rectangle with a maximun diameter of 3m were recorded during the course of a pre-afforestation survey by AOC (Scotland) Ltd. The site occupies the crest of a low knoll overlooking the River Isla to the E. The site may be a ritual or funerary monument of the type known as a Four-Poster.
