Archaeology Notes

NG53NE 29 5936 3813

Lying on the E-facing hillslope to the N of Rubha na Leac and within the confines of Hallaig Wood are the very degraded remains of a turf and stone house. The remains measure 8.5m E-W by 3.2m N-S over walls 1m thick. As seen the remains appear to have rounded corners and there is some indistinct evidence for an internal partition. The entrance appears to be in the centre of the E end.

Visited (Anon) 27 March 1991.

R Miket et al 1991; NMRS MS/530

An unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Isle of Skye 1879, sheet xxxi) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1989).
