NJ10NE 7 centred 1772 0878

A group of what may be five shieling-huts are depicted on the cureent edition of the OS 1:10000 scale map (1971) to the E of the Marl Burn along the 518m contour line.

Information from RCAHMS (DE) 18 August 1998

(Location cited as NJ 177 087). Marl Burn, depopulated settlement. The remains of at least five longhouses and an enclosure are scattered over a moderate or steep SW-facing slope in an area of grouse moor at an altitude of 400m OD.
