Archaeology Notes

NX43NE 39 479 362

Survey by CP and ET staff of the ground between Isle of Whithorn village and St Ninian's Chapel (NX43NE 6) at the request of Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council has revealed clearance mounds and cultivation furrows. The remains of a rectangular or sub-rectangular building occupy the crest of a low hill immediately to the W of the chapel. Possible steps lead downhill towards the E.
