Erected burgh of barony in 1571/2; became a royal burgh in 1583. (See also Kilrenny: NO50SE 57).

Architecture Notes

The National Trust Survey (1938) reports that, although there are still a number of old houses in Anstruther Easter, few stand out as being particularly good. The Manse is probably the most notable house in town.
