Archaeology Notes

NX38SW 11.01 3052 8451

A large kidney-shaped mound stands immediately E of the Knockittis Burn and is readily distinguishable by the change in vegetation from marsh grasses to shorter cropped grass. The shape and location of the mound are typical of burnt mounds. The mound is 7m in diameter with a marked, 2m deep, indent on the W side. It stands up to 0.8m high.
