Menie House, c.1835, John Smith. Out of Auchmacoy (qv) but more ponderously Jacobean; two storeys with dormer-heads in pinned granite with freestone dressings and diagonally set chimney-shafts; symmetrical southwest front enlivened by central bay with curvilinear gable flanked by octagonal angles with sharp finials. North-west front has Tudor porch and circular angle-tower. Earlier (1782-3) two-storey, L-plan house incorporated at south-east.
