Archaeology Notes

A penannular bronze brooch, 2.6 ins in diameter, less pin, was found about 1887 in a 'Pict's house' at Shurreray (Shurrery Lodge: ND 037 562) and donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1947 by A D Pilkington (Acc No: FA 94). The ring is very thin, of circular cross-section, and has thicker elongated triangular terminals with faint traces of zoomorphic mouldings.

Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1949.
