NJ66SE 76 6917 6396

A trial excavation was undertaken by SUAT (Scottish Urban Archaeological Trust) in August 1984 at the site of the former Crown Hotel, Old Market Place, Banff. Four trenches were dug by machine to a depth of c80cm. No archaeological deposits were found. Natural beach deposits were found at the base of all four trenches.
