Archaeology Notes

NH66NE 35 c. 69 66

Erected burgh of barony, 1677.

G S Pryde 1965.

Auchmartin and Easter Balblair were created burgh of barony (Dallas of St Martin's) on 1st July 1677 by an act of the Scottish Parliament. The act notes barony to be at St Martins not at Auchmartin and Easter Balblair that form part of the barony of St Martins. The site should be at the village of Balblair rather than the farm of Auchmartin. This site was researched as part of an archaeological desktop survey for the Resolis Water Mains Renewal Project.

Sponsor: Halcrow Group Ltd on behalf of Scottish Water.

S Farrell 2003.
