Liddelbank, a mansion constructed in 1793-4, is inhabited and in process of restoration. The Name Book of the Ordnance Survey (1863) describes it as 'a commodious dwelling house, three storeys high' with offices, gardens and a large arable farm attached, all in good repair. It was at that time the property of a Mr Maxwell of Liverpool and was occupied by a Mr W Brackenridge. The history and construction of the house have been explored by Boyd-Brent (1992).

Visited by RCAHMS (SDB), March 1996
