Archaeology Notes

NY18NE 28 17 89

Four substantial quarries were found on the summit and NE slope of Corse Hill (NY 1772 8949, 1784 8945, 1788 8954 and 1768 8938). One of them appears to be of very recent origin. A fifth quarry is situated beside the Boreland-Corrie road.

The four quarries seem to have seperate origins. All except the one that appears to be of very recent origin predate the enclosure of the land in which they lie.

CFA 1991.
