Archaeology Notes

ND03SE 16 0969 3368.

At ND 0969 3368, on a S-facing slope within a walled field of permanent pasture, is a turf-covered hut circle, 7.8m in diameter within a wall about 2.2m thick and 0.5m high. Numerous slabs set on edge, defining the inner wall face, are exposed. The entrance appears to have been in the SW. A wall of discontinuous stones on edge springs from the NW arc of the hut, extends round the outside of its W arc at a distance of 2.0m, and terminates on the S side. There is no evidence of associated cultivation.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (NKB), 29 October 1982.
