Metal Detector Survey (19 October 2017 - 25 October 2017)
NJ 06686 28974 A programme of work was undertaken, 19 – 25 October 2017, in advance of the installation of a replacement underground electricity supply to the church. The church and churchyard are located almost centrally within the designated area of Cromdale Battlefield (BTL20). The work consisted of preliminary probing and a metal detector survey along the construction corridor, followed by a watching brief during the excavation of the service trench. A small assemblage of artefacts was recovered during metal detecting along the cable corridor in the field adjacent to the churchyard.
