Field Visit (28 August 1991)

NX88SW 15 8063 8424 and 8063 8426

There are two burnt mounds situated on a terrace on the S side of a small water-course in an improved field to the SE of Brockloch. Sods were lifted on both mounds revealing cracked stones set in a matrix of black soil.

NX 8063 8424. This U-shaped mound measures 8.8m from WNW to ESE by 8.1m transversely and 0.8m in height, opening out on the ESE.

NX 8063 8426. This kidney-shaped mound measures 4.7m from NNE to SSW by 2.3m transversely and 0.3m in height, opening out on the NW.
