Activities

Field Visit (12 September 1991)

NT60NE 34 6795 0835.

A boundary bank or head-dyke with an external ditch encloses some 12 ha of rig on the E-facing hillside above the head-waters of the Shaw Burn. The rig averages 7m to 8m in width and up to 300m in length with a slight reverse-S shape. At NT 6785 0844 the head-dyke meets another bank which runs from the corner of the plantation at NT 6781 0845 past the junction and downhill through the middle of the rig, where it becomes difficult to trace, having been overlain by the rig.

Visited by RCAHMS (PJD) 12 September 1991.
