There are at least eight burnt mounds situated alongside drains or adjacent to boggy hollows on the W and SW side of Lochurr hill. Lifting sods on the mounds revealed cracked stones set in a matrix of black soil.
NX 7635 8575. This crescent-shaped burnt mound measures 6.8m from WNW to ESE by 2.9m transversely and 0.3m in height, opening out on the SSW. (Nith 334)
NX 7623 8539. This C-shaped mound measures 5.1m from WSW to ESE by 4.1m transversely and 0.3m in height, opening out on the SSW.

NX 7623 8570. A spread of cracked, reddened stone set in a matrix of black soil is visible in a sheep scrape towards the N edge of the field system (NX78NE 34.01) and may be a ploughed-out burnt mound.
NX 7614 8574. This C-shaped burnt mound measures 3.5m from N to S by 2.1m transversely and 0.3m in height, opening out on the E.

NX 7612 8594. This C-shaped mound measures 7.3m from WSW to ESE by 5.4m transversely and 0.7m in height, opening out on the SSE.

NX 7602 8586. This oval mound measures 5.1m from WSW to ESE by 3.6m transversely and 0.4m in height and is overlain by a bank on the E. (Nith 330)
NX 7577 8616. This C-shaped burnt mound measures 5.7m from N to S by 3.2m transversely and 0.4m in height, opening out on the E.

NX 7567 8609. Exposed in the W bank of a stream, there is what is probably the remains of a burnt mound measuring 4.8m by 2m and up to 0.6m in height.
