Field Visit (7 November 1990)

NY09NE 38 05108 99400

Situated on the W bank of the Green Burn, on the flat bottom of a steep-sided stream-gully, there are the remains of a burnt mound. Roughly oval on plan with a very slight hollow on the S, it measures about 5.9m in diameter from E to W by 2.4m transversely and up to 0.3m in height. The N edge of the mound has been cut by a drain revealing a mass of reddened angular fragments of stone and small pieces of charcoal within a matrix of loose black earth.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 7 November 1990.

Listed as burnt mound.

RCHAMS 1997.
