Above natural clay and a compact orange brown sand is a band of grey-brown sandy loam in which is a number of stones, many of them horizontally laid slabs. The band of stones is sealed by a grey sandy soil, and a layer of small stones and shells which directly underlay turf. (See also HY22NW 25.)
