Field Visit (23 October 1990)

NT00SE 90 05519 03329

Situated at the head of a wide boggy hollow which drains into the Garpol Water some 330m to the E, there is a burnt mound. Roughly oval on plan, it measures 3.8m in diameter from N to S by 3.5m transversely and up to 0.3m in height. The nature of the mound was tested by the removal of a turf revealing a mass of reddened angular fragments of stone and small pieces of charcoal within a matrix of loose black earth.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 23 October 1990

Listed as burnt mound.

RCAHMS 1997.
