Archaeology Notes

NS46SE 75 from 477 640 to 499 640.

Stuart, following Chalmers, states that a Roman road of which some traces were visible in modern times connected the town of Vanduaria (Paisley) with the main road at Glasgow. No traces now remain. From Stuart's map, facing p. 99, it would appear to follow the present Paisley Road West and Glasgow Road. (Fort NS46SE 4, at NS 4770 6402, was originally said to be a Roman camp, allegedly Vanduaria.)

G Chalmers 1803; R Stuart 1845.
