Archaeology Notes

NC91SW 13 94 10.

"A green mote stood on the banks of the River Loth, which the gentleman who now owns Lothbeg ordered to be dug up. There appeared a subterranean dwelling, surrounded on the outside with large flat stones, which seem to have made part of the wall; the rubbish was cleared away, and the stones left in the same situation as they were found."

Local enquiries, during the course of field investigation, failed to reveal the whereabouts of the structure mentioned above.
