(NC 950 186) Enclosures (NR) (Four shown A-D).

OS 6" map, 1964.

A group of four enclosures (A-D) were discovered during field investigation.

Visited by OS (W D J) 12 May 1960.

This is a settlement of four stone walled hut circles of similar construction (A-D), which are scooped into a fairly steep south facing incline. They are visible as platforms varying in internal size from 5.0m in diameter (D) to 11.5m E-W by 9.0m N-S (B), bounded by a scarp up to 2.0m high on the north side and a revetted wall in the south. The wall appears to have varied from about 1.2m thick in the smallest hut to 2.0m in the largest. The entrance, of simple form, is in the east or SE arc. Within hut B is a later enclosure associated with deserted crofts nearby. It measures 9.6m E-W by 5.5m N-S within a wall 0.8m wide. There is no trace of a field system associated with the huts, but later argicultural activity encroaches on the south side.

Re-surveyed at 1:10,560.

Visited by OS (N K B) 29 November 1976.
